How to Make It
1. Prepare the Mash
Boil the potatoes until soft. Mash with butter and milk until smooth and fluffy. Season well.
Let it cool slightly so it’s easier to spread and shape.
2. Cook the Filling
Sauté the diced onion and crushed garlic in a little oil.
Add the beef mince and cook until browned.
Stir in chopped carrots, chopped courgettes, and shredded cabbage.
Add tomato paste, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and beef stock.
Simmer for 10–15 minutes until thick and rich.
3. Assemble the Pie
Spread the beef filling into a baking dish.
Top with mashed potato.
Use extra mash to pipe or sculpt the π symbol for Pi Day.
Add cheese if you want a golden crust.
4. Bake
Bake at 190°C for 25–30 minutes until bubbling and golden.
