Born & Bred Scotch Fillet Steak – 360g

Born & Bred Scotch Fillet is 100% pure New Zealand beef, proudly made in NZ. Scotch fillet is the steak lover’s favourite, with fine marbling running through the meat that melts as it cooks. The result is a juicy, tender steak with the richest flavour of any cut. At 360g, this pack is a good size for two people.

Why scotch fillet?

The marbling does the work for you. Scotch fillet stays juicy even if it’s cooked a little past medium, which makes it the most forgiving steak for the barbecue.

How to cook Born & Bred Scotch Fillet

  • Take it out of the fridge 20–30 minutes before cooking
  • Pat dry, oil the meat and season well with salt and pepper
  • Sear on a hot barbecue or pan for 3–4 minutes each side for medium-rare, depending on thickness
  • Turn once or twice only, so it builds a good crust
  • Rest for 5 minutes before slicing

Storage

Keep refrigerated and use by the date on the pack. Can be frozen on the day of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is scotch fillet?

Scotch fillet is cut from the rib section, the same area as a rib-eye. It’s known as rib-eye steak in the US and UK.

Is scotch fillet the same as rib-eye?

Yes. Scotch fillet is boneless rib-eye. With the bone left in, it’s sold as a rib-eye or rib steak.

What’s the difference between scotch fillet and eye fillet?

Scotch fillet has more marbling and a richer flavour. Eye fillet is more tender and leaner, with a milder taste.

What’s the best way to cook scotch fillet?

On a hot barbecue or in a heavy pan. Medium-rare to medium lets the marbling melt for the best flavour.

How many people does a 360g scotch fillet feed?

Two people as a main meal.

Is Born & Bred beef from New Zealand?

Yes. Born & Bred Scotch Fillet is 100% pure New Zealand meat.
